THE RIVER
 

The Elkhorn River is a river in northeastern Nebraska, United States, that originates in the eastern Sandhills and is one of the largest tributaries of the Platte River, flowing 290 miles and joining the Platte just southwest of Omaha.

.Located in northeast and north-central Nebraska, the Elkhorn River basin encompasses approximately 7,000 square miles (18,000 km2).

Popular activities include fishing, swimming, tubing and kayaking. Common fish species caught: buffalo, bullhead, channel catfish, common carp, and flathead catfish. 

Common wildlife sightings include many bird species, whitetail deer, rabbits, squirrel,  otters, and fox.

THE COMMUNITY

Stuart, NE is a village in Holt County located in the north-central region of Nebraska. 
Stuart was first settled in 1879 and named after the 1st Postmaster, Peter Stuart. The population is 587 according to the 2018 census.
The Village of Stuart is a thriving community with businesses, schools, healthcare, activities, churches, and an active Community Club. 
Popular attraction:
The White Horse Museum & Heritage Village.
